Microsoft just released their latest Operating System (OS) Windows 7. Unlike previous OS Windows Vista, Windows 7 is reviewed positively by many PC users. What advantages does it have compared to Vista?
Vista may not be too bad, but it is over-powerful in various areas. It changes a lot of underlying structures and drivers of the OS all at once, while the interface improvements are not quite aggressive. It results in an OS that often does not work. Bad drivers lead to instability and performance issues that have occurred for over a year. Microsoft has surely released updates and driver revisions, but damage is inevitable.
While Windows 7 is “God-driver”-like. There are plenty of under-the-hood modifications, but it is not either completely new nor having really different driver model, providing ATI and nVIDIA plenty of time to ensure their products are as stable and fast as they are in Vista.
When it comes to Desktop and Interface, many users complain that Vista’s Desktop Visual forces raw access memory to work twice harder than usual. Even a single gadget can cause PC works too slowly. Windows 7 has a different look. Not only eye candy, its sleek interface is also functional, practical and delivers better performance.
Another test should be done when comparing Windows 7 and Vista is on its gaming capabilities. Since ATI HD 5000 series has just been released early this month, the only test ever done uses DirectX 10 GPU.
In Game Explorer, Vista and Windows 7 do not show many differences. The new version of Windows 7 is basically the same as one of Vista, yet it is refined in a few noticeable ways. It feels slightly media-like in its implementation, with games listing on the left side of the screen and images of selected games on the right side. However, when it comes to gaming experience, Windows 7 is more superior compared to Vista. Crysis Warhead shows that the frame per second rate in Windows 7 is bigger than Vista.
