In the midst of Final Fantasy XIII, Resonance of Fate has also made its fame in RPG industry. This very unique RoF has given RPG players more extreme challenge with its astoundingly captivating fighting scenes. Also, the developers of the game, tri-Ace, focused primarily on the development of its battle system and its world.

The scenario of Resonance of Fate cycles on saving the world from total destruction. It has started when the civilization on earth has gone through a drastic change in the entire environment. This result to poison the Earth and it lead to almost devastate the mankind. Successfully, the remaining humans had built an enormous device called Basel. This experimental life support device was built to extend the lives of the few humans left. It is the only place where the people can live and moreover, it cleanses and purifies the air in the nearby land and hopefully the entire Earth as well. After so many years, it became very effective to support the lives of many, until one day the purifier inside the Basel begins to malfunction.

In the period of this tragedy, the PMF (Private Military Firm) has been tasked to discover the root of this disaster and also, to complete the quest that leads them on a journey that will reveal the truth of Basel. This firm is composed of three individual, Vashyron, Zephyr and Leanne, who have their own mystifying personal backgrounds as well.

While the whole cast is yet to be disclosed, some of the characters can be seen in the trailers and screenshots released by SquareEnix. Here are some of the playable characters in the Final Fantasy XIII that is to be released on March 9, 2010 on Playstation 3. Don’t forget to leave a comment.

Lightning is a female soldier that resembles Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII. She can manipulate gravity and is quite agile in battle. She can summon Odin, a horse-like beast, to aid her in combat.




Snow Villiers is a massive character, who can run while carrying two people. He uses solely brute force and doesn’t carry any weapons. He can summon Eidolon Shiva.




Oerba Dia Vanille carries a weapon that looks like a fishing rod. She can be aided in battle by Carbuncle, who can turn into a disk and strike enemies.




Sazh Katzroy is a black man who carries two guns with him. While his colleagues can only engage in close combats, Sazh can attack his enemies from large distances without being detected by the enemies. He can summon Ifrit, who can turn into a race car.




Hope Estheim is a teenager who carries boomerangs in battle. His mother dies early in the trailer, but not before asking Snow to protect him. He can be seen fighting together with Vanille.

Final Fantasy XIII is a battle system inspired by the system found in Final Fantasy VII Advent Children and Final Fantasy XII, which preserves the style where in the enemies are integrated into the world environment.  What makes XIII different is that the battles take place in different dimensions which allows players to go to a new battle screen, separate from the main gaming world.  It will also bring back the Active Time Battle (ATB) System, but unlike its predecessors, it will allow users to be able to bundle up large number of commands together to achieve attack bonuses.

More exciting features would be unveiled on March 9, 2010 when it will be launched in the United States and in other parts of the world.  The publishers has promised to come up with a guidebook before the most anticipated video game would hit the market.

Although this encompassing game was originally released in October of 2008, the Game of the Year edition was released October, 2009. It included all five game add-ons – Operation: Anchorage, The Pitt, Broken Steel, Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta. It has been released on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 Games, and PC Games. Having played through the original release of Fallout 3 this game was a nice change from the typical sword and magic RPG that is rampant in the industry. You are immersed in a post-apocalyptic open war zone that basically leaves everyone fending for themselves.The character customization really wasn’t all that amazing, but you’re still given full control of all your stats. These include main attributes with such things as strength, intelligence, and charisma. Each of these has benefits and can be increased throughout the game depending on your style of play. Along with your main stats you’re also given skills and perks that can be upgraded at each level increase. The skills relate to your healing ability, small guns, big guns, and then also your ability to hack terminals or use the lock pick ability. There are many other skills and can all be increased to 100. These items will also be increased depending on your playing style and the stats of your character. Depending on how you want to increase these stats, Fallout 3 gives me many different ways in which to do so. Perks are also additions to your character that can increase skills, your main attributes, or give you increased damage, more health or armor, or even open up different dialogue choices with those that you encounter.

Throughout the game you’re able to find all kinds of loot, side quests, and interesting characters to interact with. With scenery in some of the wasteland is kind of drab, but usually you’re trying to sneak up on some enemies or possibly shooting them with a mini-nuke from a distance…  which in my opinion adds to the fun of the game instead of making the backgrounds pretty. Overall it’s a fun and challenging game to play. It does have some monotonous quests where you have to go kill a bunch of creatures just to get on the good side of someone else, but finding new and inventive ways to kill them can often be more fun than running in guns-a-blazin! The only other issue I had with the game was with maxing my character out too early. I was still doing some side quests and the game additions when my character maxed out on levels. This made it less exciting since I could no longer gain experience by killing more creatures, but the storyline still kept me interested.

The add-ons for the game add hours of exploration and lots of new weapons/upgrades and interesting characters. The downfall with some of them is you’re transplanted from the location of the main game and brought to an off-site area that you’re unable to leave until completing the new quest. In one of the add-ons they actually grant you an extra ten levels to increase your character even further (including new perks and the ability to increase stats/skills) and also allow further exploration of the wasteland as without this add-on the game ends with your final quest.

Overall it was a fun, immersive game with lots of gun play, quests, and items to interact with. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in the RPG genre.
